Memories

Memories

Isn't it sad that one day, our memories will just fade away and disappear?

The times of joy and laughter with friends; the furious quarrels with siblings and parents; the unhappiness that you get when you do not agree with way things are done.

The agony of closed ones passing away.

2 friends have left my life, just this year. While we were not chummies, the fact that these were people that I have seen and were deeply etched in my memories, just passing away, really hurts. Simple memories of just waving hi or nodding our heads to acknowledge the presence of each other, hurts badly even in a passing thought.

Can you imagine how badly this impact will be felt on people very close to them - their parents, for example.

Quarrels between each other, be it over results, religion, friends, or lifestyle, all seem very minute in this retrospect. But do we really know how to think in this manner when it happens? How many times have we regretted about something happening the way it did?

If time could just turn back, I'm sure people will know what to do. But time, does not move backwards. Life is really just a one-way street. We can only head straight. Even if we try to make detours, none of them lead back. You can't really 'relive' your life.

And so, I want to live my life to the fullest. And when I leave the world, it will be with no regrets. No regrets of not spending time with my friends, doing nonsensical stuffs. No regrets of not studying well enough. No regrets of not trying out new stuffs.

No regrets of telling people around me how much I love them. It may just be a tad too late when we get our courage to voice it out, and when it happens, you know you've missed your chance. Forever. It'll just be a nagging ache in your heart when that happens - a memory that will haunt you forever.

Memories are really a double-edged sword. It can be nice and warm, but it can be a painful experience too.

I hereby thank you, for partaking in my life. For the memories that you may have given me. Be it playing of basketball or pool, studying and slacking, running away from teachers and skipping lessons, numerous heart to heart talks and talk cock sessions. I thank you. I seriously do.

And when the time comes and my memories fade, I hope that you, my Friend, will be there for me. We may not run, but we can just sit together. We may not talk, but we can enjoy the silence.

We may not be able to see, but we can feel the presence of each other.

Thank you, my friends. I am grateful.
